Life has been pretty busy the past few days and I am so glad to say that my energy level has been better than a couple of weeks ago. Nausea is still kicking my butt, as is early morning bathroom runs, but other than that pregnancy is going well! The past couple of mornings I have had difficulty packing lunches since the smell/sight of all of the food makes me sick. Once I actually eat my breakfast cereal, I start to feel okay again. I honestly am so glad that morning sickness should wear off in about six weeks! (I know, forever and far away, but I'm trying to stay positive) :) Crazy dreams continue to visit me every night. Last night Andy and I went on a scenic river boat tour in an ancient Mexican city. No clue why we were in Mexico, but the boat ride was very vivid and exciting! Weight loss/gain is still a bit of a concern to me. Last Friday I weighed in at -2.5 pounds. But after eating a large dinner Friday and a large lunch Saturday I weighed in at +3.5 pounds Sunday morning. So I am not going over and above where I should, I just need to make sure that I stay active and work off some of the excess calories. Unfortunately, all of the healthy food that I started eating now sound disgusting and nausea-inducing. Very frustrating, actually. Non-salted Saltines are still my best friend.
Yesterday my Mom told me that the flu shot in expectant mothers can increase the likelihood of the child having Autism. I have not gotten my flu shot yet, and of course would want to avoid it if is linked to causing any disease. However, after some research I came across this article: STUDY: Flu During Pregnancy May Increase Child's Autism Risk. Basically it is saying that pregnant women who get the flu during pregnancy have a higher chance of giving birth to autistic children. So the CDC continues to recommend getting the flu shot as a safe preventative to getting the flu. I have heard several mixed theories/opinions about the flu shot while pregnant, so I am definitely going to hold off until we go to see the doctor next Wednesday. Hopefully she will have some answers for us :) We have several questions that we want to ask.
One "perk" of being pregnant is great hair. I can vouch that my hair has not fallen out as much and is shinier than before! I am loving it! Once the baby is born, my hair is supposed to fall out in handfuls :( I am not looking forward to that. But I will take the great hair while I can! Something else that is kind of nice, yet kind of a downer is not being able to lift things heavier than 25 pounds. I guess they don't want to strain certain muscles and put extra pressure on the baby, so my doctor recommended not lifting heavy objects. Andy now carries the laundry to the basement and back to the bedroom, and will carry the vacuum upstairs if I need it. He is such a nice guy. He wants to be extra careful with me since I am now "Double Trouble". I am clumsy by nature, but now that risk is heightened ;)
